Tottenham set to offload Byran Gil amidst interest from former club Sevilla
Tottenham Hotspur are expecting Byran Gil to leave at the conclusion of the ongoing season owing to a lack of minutes at White Hart Lane this season, with his former employers Sevilla among the clubs in contention for his signatures.
The North Londoners signed the 23-year-old in a £21.6 million transfer with Erik Lamela moving to Sevilla as part of the deal in what was tagged as a bargain transfer in 2021, although it has not turned out as per expectations with the Spaniard struggling to find his feet in England.
Many expected Byran Gil to have a fresh opportunity at Hart Lane following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou; however, he has barely been used by the Australian gaffer this season, which has been a source of frustration for Gil. The 2001-born winger has only made 11 appearances in the Premier League this season, and those outings have only aggregated to 201 minutes of football, which is astronomically less for a developing player.
Growing frustrated owing to a lack of opportunities at N17 and loan moves away from the club, Bryan Gil is looking for a permanent move this summer, and Daniel Levy is ready to sanction a sale for the silky winger.
Tottenham prioritizes permanent sale for funds
Dutch side Feyenoord expressed interest in securing his signatures; however, they will have to fight it out with his former club Sevilla. The Spanish club is not ready to sanction a $6–8 million transfer in the summer owing to financial crunches; however, they are ready to take Bryan Gil on loan for next season with a mandatory purchase option in the next summer window, per vamosmisevillafc.
For Tottenham, they have to prioritize selling over any loan deals as it brings an immediate cash boost that can be used in recruitment in the summer.
