Bissouma stays put as Spurs see a role for the midfielder despite inconsistency
Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a major summer overhaul following the recent blitz in the wonderful season they were enjoying under Ange Postecoglou, and while the Lilywhites are looking to sell a few players, Spurs are prepared to keep Yves Bissouma at White Hart Lane beyond the upcoming offseason, per Football Insider.
The North Londoners brought Yves Bissouma from Premier League rivals Brighton in a deal worth an initial £25 million in 2022. While he has shown his capacity to operate in the number six role this season under the former Celtic coach, the Australian is looking to improve the ceiling of the midfield in the off-season.
Spurs have found themselves giving up on a Champions League spot at the end of the season. The North Londoners found themselves on the unprepared side of things when the stakes mattered, and the Tottenham boss publicly admitted massive changes would follow at the club following the conclusion of the ongoing season.
New signing incoming but Bissouma still in the mix for Tottenham midfield
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an inconsistent time at N17, despite his recent form in the ongoing season. Yves has featured in 27 games for Tottenham this season; however, he has failed to establish an integral presence in the heart of the park, which got many speculating about his potential future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While Spurs also look in the market for a new defensive midfielder, they lack depth in the department, which indicates there could be a role for the Malian in Ange Postecoglou’s squad next season.

Bissouma can play as a six as well as in the eight role; however, he generally elevates in a controlled environment. He gives up positions too easily in chaos, as we have seen in the past few weeks.
Tottenham will be looking to bring in another marquee central midfielder in the summer, irrespective of whether Bissouma stays or seeks pastures away from White Hart Lane.
