Will Spurs splash the cash for coveted Fulham midfielder Palhinha?
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to increase their squad ceiling in the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to build on the progress made under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou. The North Londoners have gone from one of the struggling top six sides to one of the most exciting teams in Europe in a short time under the Australian gaffer.
While the Lilywhites look to ensure that they have individuals that can fit into the former Celtic boss’ style of play and help Spurs challenge for trophies on multiple fronts. One of the needs this summer is a central midfielder, and the North Londoners have been urged to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as a replacement for Yves Bissouma.
Wenham insists Spurs to build around Palhinha, not Bissouma
Reputed Tottenham podcast owner John Wenham insists that a high-profile midfielder should be a priority at White Hart Lane this summer. While the North Londoners continue to be linked with a move for a forward, Wenham acknowledges a need for a potent number six. He name-drops Joao Palhinha and urges Spurs to replace him with former Brighton midfielder Bissouma.
John Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, said:
“I think Tottenham need to call up Fulham and find out how much it would cost to bring Palhinha to North London,” Wenham said.
“He is a player who Ange Postecoglou should be building his team around.
“We need an improvement on Yves Bissouma, and I would like to see Spurs get rid of him and bring in Palhinha.
“That should be the club’s first priority this summer.”
There are multiple players linked with a move to White Hart Lane that could make an everlasting impact, and Palhinha has the capacity to become one of those players. While not only contributing to goals, he is swift in covering spaces in transition, which can help Postecoglou’s all-attack style of play.
