Will Spurs pay the piper? Shakhtar’s high price tag may block Sudakov transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have been liked with a move for the highly-rated Ukrainian international Giorgi Sudakov, who has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s starlet Phil Foden. The North Londoners have been pursuing a move for the 21-year-old for a while; however, a recent report cites that a possible move would be unlikely.
John Wenham, the owner of a reputable Spurs podcast, Lilywhite Rose, insists that the North Londoners would have reservations about a move for Sudakov owing to the impact that another big-money transfer, like Mykhailo Mudryk’s move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea, has had at Stamford Bridge.
There have been reports (h/t The Mirror) about the Lilywhites meeting with the Ukrainian’s agent, Vadym Shablii, to discuss a possible summer transfer, while he was also snapped at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 21-year-old recently signed a contract extension at “Olympiyskiy,” which has a £127.7 million release clause.
Will Spurs take the plunge? North Londoners weigh up potential Sudakov deal
John Wenham insists that the new contract could be a problem for the North Londoners to get the deal over the line. In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“We’re talking about big money here, £120 million plus,” Wenham said.
“Shakhtar Donetsk have done well in the transfer market in recent years, attracting a big fee for Mudryk, who I was hugely impressed with before he arrived at Chelsea. He had done much more on the European stage than Sudakov has, but yet he hasn’t been able to replicate that form in the Premier League.
“Therefore, I think there’ll be a bit of skepticism about handing huge sums of money over for a player like that, although Tottenham inviting the agent over demonstrates that they are keen to at least be kept in the loop.”

Tottenham will definitely not dance along the release clause numbers with Shakhtar if any move is to be probable. It is yet to be seen how much Spurs are willing to pay for Sudakov’s signatures, and things should become more clear with time as we head into the summer window.
