Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou refuses to throw in the towel for top four ambition
Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a spectacular season under Ange Postecoglou despite the recent blitz, which could end up changing the fate of the season for the North Londoners. Spurs were in a tight race for a Champions League finish with Aston Villa; however, a streak of four successive losses meant that looked no longer viable.
The team lost all its confidence, and it was difficult to put through an attacking sequence as opponents walked all over the team in all aspects of the game. Spurs were getting outclassed and outsmarted on the pitch, but the difficult period came through as they won against Burnley at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today.
“Six points to play for” – Ange Postecoglou refuse to give up on top-four dream
While many fans and pundits think that the top four is far from reach for Ange Postecoglou & Co., the Australian gaffer is not giving up the belief to bring Champions League football to White Hart Lane next season until it’s mathematically impossible.
Following the win against Burnley, the Tottenham boss was quizzed about whether a top-four is still a possibility and if the North Londoners are eyeing a final push this season, as he acknowledged the lack of confidence and mindset following the four-game losing streak. He also spoke about aiming for six points and pushing for a nice finish to the season.
In his post-game presser today, the Australian boss said (via. Football.London):
“We’ve still got six points to play for. That’s the key thing for us. There’s a big game for us on Tuesday night against City, and it will be a great test for us and the Sheffield United team. We’ll see where we can get to, playing our football, and see what points we get and end up with.”
