Can Tottenham outmuscle Serie A clubs for “Icelandic Salah”?
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson for some time; however, the North Londoners will face intense competition if they were to seal his signatures, per Sky Italia.
The Lilywhites have been dipping into the Italian market for top acquisitions since Fabio Paratici took up a position at the club, and they have been exploiting the market for their own good ever since. Spurs have signed multiple talents from Serie A that can have an everlasting impact at White Hart Lane, and they are competing with the big foes to add another talent to that list.
Tottenham have to add potential and ceiling to the current roster to ensure that Ange Postecoglou can increase the levels of his project at N17, and who better to do so than a player that has been likened to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah?
Can Spurs win the Gudmundsson auction?
Albert Gudmundsson has been one of the highlights of the Italian top division this season, which has attracted interest from clubs around Europe. He has been a sensation in his debut season in Italian football, with a record of 14 goals and three assists in 33 games. He has been the player who has made noise in Serie A owing to his versatility and exemplary performance.
Alongside Tottenham, the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus are highly linked with a possible move for Gudmundsson. However, per Sky Italia, another Italian side, Napoli, is stepping up in the race for the Icelandic forward. Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio insists that the Naples-based club is diving in with an offer for the 26-year-old.
As Napoli look to come into the race with a bang, Juventus are looking beyond cash options to land Gudmundsson. The Turin-based side is said to be preparing a swap offer, with Fabio Miretti and Enzo Barrenechea going the other way.
