Romano confirms Tottenham could move their star defender this summer

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur could lose Emerson Royal during this summer’s transfer window. The Brazilian RB has two years remaining on his contract with the Liliwhites.

It has not been happy sailing for the 25-year-old ever since Ange Postecoglou took over Tottenham Hotspur. Since Postecoglou’s arrival, the Brazilian defender’s minutes have received a massive cut bringing him down to just 23 appearances this season.

The Spurs paid Barcelona £26m back in 2021 to complete the signing of Royal. However, the move has not borne any fruit for the Lilywhites. During his time with the Lilywhites Emerson has made 100 appearances recording a measly four goals and two assists.

His time with the Catalan side was a massive failure and now his time with the Spurs has also let the player down. However, AC Milan could give the Brazilian a new lease on his career this summer.

The Italian giants are in the market for a quality RB and Emerson Royal is at the top of their list. Since Tottenham doesn’t consider the Brazilian a key member of their lineup, signing him shouldn’t prove to be too difficult.

Transfermarkt values Royal at €18m, so signing the 25-year-old would be a cheap affair for Milan. Moreover, the Brazilian is still young so there’s still a chance that he’ll realise his potential within the right setup.
