A huge transfer blow for Tottenham as Genoa sensation Gudmundsson sets his priorities straight
Tottenham’ hopes of acquiring Albert Gudmundsson have been severely damaged by the Genoa star’s most recent remarks made before the summer transfer window.
The North London team has connections with several attractive players from around Europe as they try to bolster their assault in preparation for the next campaign.
Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa is one of the players on their want list, but he appears committed to staying with the Italian team. The Spurs want to sign someone who can lead the line for them and score goals consistently. The 26-year-old could have been a great member for them.
The former AZ Alkmaar attacker admitted that he had once seen himself playing in the Premier League, but he has now changed his mind and wants to stay at Genoa. He said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport magazine Sportweek:
“As a child, I used to dream of the Premier League, but I’ve changed my mind now. There is a great life here. So soon Genoa and I will sit down at a table and find the best solution for me and for them.”
The Genoa sensation has 37 appearances in the 2023–24 season, tallying 16 goals and 5 assists. More significantly, he can play a variety of offensive roles, which may have greatly aided Ange Postecoglou.
Gudmundsson intends to stay with the Italian team, and he will shortly have negotiations about a contract extension with the club’s management. There are good chances that he will sign a new contract shortly.

According to the striker, he might not depart from the Italian team this summer unless there was an incredible opportunity. The Spurs already have a few targets and a lot of alterations, so they’ll probably only spend sensibly on each of them.
