Magpies swoop in for Spurs target Kelly
Tottenham Hotspur are set to see Premier League rivals Newcastle United make an endeavour to sign centre-back target Lloyd Kelly, per INews.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane this summer as his contract with current employers, AFC Bournemouth, runs out this summer. A free transfer for Kelly comes as an intriguing prospect for multiple clubs, as the likes of Liverpool have also expressed interest in his services.
The North Londoners are set to undergo a massive summer overhaul with an already planned mass exodus, and they are looking to explore bringing in a central defender following the conclusion of the ongoing season. There is a dire need for depth in the position despite Spurs bringing in Radu Dragusin from Genoa for a fee reported to be in excess of £26 million as the North Londoners beat a late hijack attempt from Bayern Munich to land the Romanian central defender.
However, Tottenham will have to look beyond Lloyd Kelly to solve their defensive depth woes, as Newcastle United may have won the race for his signature.
Newcastle hijacks Tottenham’s transfer plans
It is reported that Kelly may have already agreed on personal terms to seal a move to St. James Park, and Newcastle’s pursuit to hammer potential Spurs targets does not end there, as the Tyneside-based club is also expected to make a move for Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer.
For Tottenham, this comes as a major blow, as they have lost on a potential target who they were looking to sign this summer. Daniel Levy & Co. will have to be swift on their feet to seal a move for Tosin Adarabioyo, or they risk losing out on a move for the Fulham centre-back to Newcastle as well.
