Tottenham Hotspur could replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with Serie A this summer
As reported by HITC, Tottenham Hotspur might’ve found the perfect replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in Serie A midfielder, Ederson. The 24-year-old has made a total of 52 appearances this season recording seven goals and one assist.
What Ederson lacks in offense he more than makes up for on defence. His distribution doesn’t leave anything to be desired and he can absolutely lock the middle area down. His dominant performance against Bayer Leverkusen must not have gone unnoticed at Tottenham.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is slowly approaching the wrong side of 30. His decline has already begun and his pace is not what it used to be, things will only continue to get worse for the Dutch midfielder.
Ederson on the other hand is only 24 years old. He has a lot of room to grow and more importantly, he has all the time in the world to make strides on the pitch. With his current quality in mind, the Brazilian could grow to be a very dominant defensive midfielder in the future.
Ange Postecoglou is playing the long game and has made it a point to give more opportunities to younger players. With the way Ederson has been playing, it wouldn’t be much of a risk to take a chance on him as well.
However, signing the 24-year-old midfielder could prove to be an expensive affair for the Spurs. Ederson has three years remaining on his contract which will undoubtedly take his value up.

It’ll be interesting to see if Tottenham pull the trigger on Hojbjerg this summer. If they want to sell now would be the perfect time as Ederson could be available. However, if the team waits Hojbjerg will leave on a free transfer next summer and someone else might snag up the Brazilian. Time is of the essence as the Spurs approach the summer transfer window.
