Shock incident outside French hotel leaves Tottenham Hotspur star in distress

Tottenham Hotspur star Yves Bissouma was the subject of a vicious encounter outside a luxury hotel in Cannes

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur star Yves Bissouma was outside a five-star French hotel when muggers attacked him with tear gas before stealing his £260,000 watch.

The former Brighton star and his wife were returning during the early hours to their luxury five-star hotel, Majestic Barriere, in Cannes when the distressing event occurred.

The event occurred on Cannes’ most sophisticated thoroughfare, the Promenade de la Croisette, on Sunday. The 27-year-old midfielder stepped out of his car, and two hooded men confronted the player, using tear gas to incapacitate him before stealing his luxurious timepiece from his wrist.

The £30 million midfielder tried to enter the hotel in an attempt to seek protection, but the doors were locked, allegedly ripping him off £260,000.

Although Bissouma and his wife had planned to spend several days vacationing at the French resort, the couple returned to England later on Sunday.

The shocking event outside a French hotel that left a Tottenham Hotspur star in trouble serves as a sharp reminder of the dangers faced by high-profile athletes.

It reinforces the importance of improved security measures and increased awareness of personal safety among football players.

Luxury watch theft has been a major issue in Cannes in recent years, with more than 30 occurrences reported since January 2023. In 2023 alone, five burglaries occurred in footballers’ houses.

In the last year, thieves have targeted Newcastle players Alexander Isak and Joelinton, England talents Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling, and West Ham defender Kurt Zouma.

Bissouma is the latest player to be targeted by burglars, following a series of horrific raids on celebrities’ homes throughout England.

The French national police are now investigating the incident, providing the necessary support, and addressing the broader implications of such incidents to prevent future occurrences.
