As per London News Online, Milwall is pushing hard to sign Japhet Tanganga on a permanent deal from the Tottenham Hotspur. The player served the Milwall from January in a loan deal from Spurs, which came to an end in May.

The English defender joined the Spurs in 2019 and made 50 appearances for the club. He has decent stats with one assist for the North London club. Tanganga was ruled out for the remainder of the 2021–22 season after he suffered a knee injury in the match between London rivals Chelsea.

The 25-year-old moved to German club FC Augsburg last September on loan along with a buying option. But the player remained on the bench without playing a single game for the German club. The Spurs recalled Japhet and he spent the second half of last season on loan with Millwall.

The English defender had a wonderful spell with Millwall, playing 18 games and scoring two goals. He had a good rapport with Millwall manager Neil Harris. The manager expressed his view on the English player via South London Press

“It’s really important that everybody understands, not just Neil Harris and his team-mates, but the whole football club is a big fan of Japhet Tanganga.”

Along with his gratitude, the English manager expressed his desire to continue the journey with Tanganga.

“I think I have made that clear in previous articles – I would love to work with him. Japhet is a player who will be in demand over this transfer window,” he added.

Hotspur, who has one more year of contract with Tanganga, may sell him in the summer as they have a stable backline including Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie. The Italian goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, who is in incredible form, will be an extra strength on the goal line too.

But it is also questionable whether Ange Postecoglou will keep him as an option in the back. The recent form of the player may change the mind of the Aussie coach.

“As a football club, sometimes, we can only push as far when we go through a process which is involving individuals, agents and football clubs; It’s safe to say that we have pushed hard to see if Japhet is a possibility for us in this window.”

Neil Harris shared his concern about signing the Spurs player. Through his statement, it is clear that Millwall will try their best to sign Tanganga.
