Tottenham Hotspur is targeting English strikers to replace Harry Kane
According to Football Insider, English striker duo Ivan Toney and Dominic Solanke are the potential targets of Tottenham Hotspur to revamp the squad and finally replace Harry Kane ahead of the upcoming season.
The hunting saga for the new number nine by Daniel Levy & Co. has now reached the English strikers. Pete O’Rourke revealed Ivan Toney from Berentford and Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth are considered for the striker position of Lillywhites in the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast. Both the English strikers have experience with Premier League sides and have more chances to sign for the North London club.
Ivan Toney was on Spurs radar for the last couple of months, and Solanke joined the race recently. Toney played a vital role in promoting Berentford to the Premier League and has good stats with the club with the last four years of service for the ‘bees’. He also managed to score four goals and two assists in 17 games played in the last season; he missed the first half of the previous campaign after receiving an eight-month ban for violating FA gambling rules.
Dominic Solanke, who was a Chelsea product, started the journey with Cherries in 2019. The 26-year-old has played over 150 games for Bournemouth. He also completed the 2023/24 season with 21 goals and four assists in 42 games for the southwest side. After Solanke scored six goals in seven matches in December 2023, he won the Premier League Player of the Month award for that month. He also became the first Bournemouth player to win the award.
Ange Postecoglou, who was successful in creating a firm backline in his first campaign with Spurs, suffered without a performing striker. The space after the transfer of Spurs all-time top scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich was not filled by any of the existing players in the ‘White Hart Lane’. The club will accept bids for the Brazilian striker Richarlison, according to Football Insider, who is not rising to the expected level. Even the Brazilian wants to stay with the club, who also has a contract until 2027 with Spurs. The club is not satisfied with his performance in the last season and won’t be given a chance for another season.

The current targets of Lillywhites will be a perfect match for the position. Ivan Toney will be Spurs first option, as he was also considered for the winter transfer. The London rivals Chelsea are also alive in the race for the Brentford striker, and the price may also be a concern for the Spurs to sign the player, who is also called up to England’s national team for Euro 2024.
