North London rivals Chelsea also alive in the race with Tottenham for the EFL Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville
Tottenham may speed up their plans to sign EFL Championship Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville as Liverpool pulls out of the race. However, London rivals Chelsea are still alive with a high probability of getting the left winger in the race.
Leeds United failed to get a promotion to the Premier League, but their star winger Summerville would get a chance for the Premier League promotion where some clubs from the league have shown interest in having the Dutch player from Elland Road.
Summerville, who was signed by Leeds in 2020 had a top-class campaign with the Whites in the last EFL season, with 19 goals and nine assists in 43 EFL appearances. The standout performance from the player led him to win the EFL Player of the Season award.
Leeds United are now planning to sell their top star, who played a vital role in taking the Whites to the EFL playoff championship held at Wembley. The club failed to win the playoff championship with Southampton, which would promote the club to the Premier League. The sudden selling move from the EFL club is to stay within the profits and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham are the three major Premier League clubs that have shown interest in the 22-year-old. After the departure of Jurgen Klopp, the new Dutch manager, Arne Slot, is all set to take over the Reds. But as of now, Slot hasn’t included his native winger in his plans at Liverpool, so the club has pulled back from the race.
Chelsea, also coming to the Premier League race with a new manager, new tactician Enzo Maresca of the Blues,s had a chance to watch Summerville’s performance closely in his previous campaign. The ex-Leicester boss has also faced him with his club, and the impression made by Summerville made the Italian gaffer bid for him. Also, the Blues are leading in the race for the winger.
Ange Postecoglou’s side is making the process as quick as possible after the withdrawal of Liverpool the player. Spurs will negotiate for the player valued at £35-£40m by Leeds. Even if their rivals are in front, the Lillywhites have a high chance of getting Summerville. Leeds also aimed to sign Spurs star Joe Rodon in a permanent deal. Rodon was the main lead for the Whites in the back line in the last campaign after he arrived as a loan player from N17.
