Genoa CEO is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur to sign Djed Spence
As per Calciomercato, Andres Blazquez, CEO of Italian club Genoa, has visited North London and initiated talks to sign Spurs star Djed Spence in a permanent deal from the N17. The English defender had a six-month loan spell with Genoa, which will end this month.
The 23-year-old right-back spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign with the EFL club Leeds United, which didn’t turn out well for both the player and club. Then Spurs sent the Englishman to Genoa in January as part of the comeback signing of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin until 2030 with the Lillywhites.
The player had a decent spell in Italy, and according to his contract, Genoa has the option to sign him on a permanent deal if they are willing to pay £10m to Spurs. Genoa was impressed with the performance of the English right back, who played 16 games in the 5-month journey.
The main intention of Blazquez’s visit to London is for Spence as they feel £10m for the player is a bit expensive for the Italian club. But Spence proved that he is worth that price with his performance in Serie A. Genoa CEO would have a negotiation during the visit to London. The negotiation will not be easy for Blazquez, but it is not impossible, as the Spurs manager hadn’t included Spence in his plans for the club.

A fair relationship between both clubs and the past transfer history stands impressive, and the affectionate relationship that exists between Genoa’s sporting director Marco Ottolini and Londoners unofficial general manager Fabio Paratici. The two have worked together at Juventus for a long time. These factors together clear the path for the 23-year-old to a permanent move to Italy.
