AC Milan frontrunners for Tottenham star Emerson Royal
Tottenham Hotspur FC are looking at a massive overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window as multiple players are linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, and Brazilian defender Emerson Royal has been one of those players who have been widely rumoured to depart.
The North Londoners acquired the services of Emerson Royal from Spanish giants Barcelona for £25.8 million back in 2021, which at the time was looked at as a highly anticipated deal. However, the 25-year-old hasn’t been able to replicate his Spanish top-tier form in the English top-tier, leading to the Lilywhites eventually considering his probable exit.
The former Real Betis defender has been reduced to a bits-and-parts player in the recently concluded campaign, with Spanish international Pedro Porro taking over his place in the player eleven. Emerson only made 24 appearances last season, most of which came in the left-back and center-back roles.
La Liga return or Serie A switch?
AC Milan have been named as the front-runner to seal his signatures as we approach the summer window, per Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky. There are expectations that the right-back is waiting for the Italian giants to make a formal offer; however, on the contrary, Spanish giants Villarreal are linked with a move for the Brazilian right-back.
A move to La Liga means he would be back playing in a league where he is comfortable and has been leading the charts before his eventual move to Tottenham. Gianluca Di Marzio confirms that the player is waiting on Milan’s approaches and would prefer to move to San Siro over Villarreal at the time of writing.
