Cole Bassett throws shade at Tottenham regarding Arne Slot and Liverpool
Former Feyenoord star Cole Bassett has now revealed that Dutch coach Arne Slot was considered by Spurs in last season before signing Ange Postecoglou, per Mirror. Slot has now signed a new contract with Premier League club Liverpool after the departure of the club’s greatest manager, Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutch manager was a huge admirer of ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. As per the player, Slot used to show Liverpool match clips and imitate Klopp’s tactics to his Feyenoord players. Dutchman used the Reds as an example of what it takes to play at the highest level.
The nine-year saga of the Reds with German gaffer Jurgen Klopp has ended in the last campaign. Klopp bid farewell to Anfield after winning both Premier League and Champions League titles with the club. Liverpool appointed Arne Slot as Klopp’s successor last week. The Reds fans are eagerly waiting for their new manager’s plans and transfers for the upcoming season.
The Dutch manager was also shortlisted by Spurs before they reached an agreement with Postecoglou. The successful reign in the Dutch club made Slot a favourite among Premier League clubs.
“I thought he was going to go to Spurs last year, But I’m glad he maybe waited it out a bit, and now he’s got an even bigger club per se with his move.”
said Basset to Mirror Sport. The American player is more happy to see his former boss taking the responsibility of the Reds. He also shared his curiosity
“It’s tough that he’s coming in after what Klopp he did there, but I’m curious to see how he does. I think he’ll do really well. But we’ll see how that goes.”
