Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso could leave the club this summer

Spanish club Real Betis have started talks with their former player Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham for a comeback to La Liga. The Argentine midfielder is all set to bid farewell to Tottenham Hotspur after a five-year journey with the club.

Lo Celso’s first arrival to N17 was after his loan deal from Real Betis in 2019. The North Londoners extended his contract with a five-year permanent deal with the club after a season with the Argentine.

The midfielder was signed by the club by foreseeing him in the future plans of the Lillywhites. But the recurring injuries and less playtime made the player stay on the bench for a long period.

The player also had a loan spell with Villareal in the 2022/23 season, which can be considered as the only relief season for the player in the past five years. Now the Lillywhites and Lo Celso are getting ready to part ways mutually, as he was no longer included in Spurs plans. The Copa America winner has one more season contract with Spurs.

After the news of Lo Celso parting ways with Spurs, many clubs have shown interest in bagging Lo Celso from Spurs. His former club Real Betis and Premier League club Aston Villa are the clubs in front of the race.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis have already contacted the player’s representatives. Lo Celso had two seasons with the Spanish club before joining Spurs, and he contributed 16 goals and six assists in 45 matches.
