Emerson Royal linked with exit as Levy eyes summer rebuild
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the North Londoners looking at a mass exodus this off-season.
Spurs have made massive progress under Ange Postecoglou since the Australian took charge at N17 last summer. Daniel Levy and the officials at Tottenham would want to capitalize on the progress and continue to build upon it. And the incomings in the upcoming window would be as critical as the outgoings.
The Lilywhites signed Emerson Royal from Spanish giants Barcelona in 2021 for £25.8 million, which at the time was looked at as a highly anticipated deal. However, the 25-year-old hasn’t been able to replicate his La Liga form in the English top tier, leading to Tottenham eventually considering his probable exit.
He has become a bits-and-parts player at White Hart Lane, with only 22 appearances in the Premier League in the recently concluded campaign, although most of those came in the left-back and centre-back roles.
Can Levy and Milan bridge the divide for Emerson Royal?
While the exit rumours have fortified with every passing week, Emerson has been subject to massive links with Italian giants AC Milan. While the Italian giants are expected to move for the 25-year-old this summer, both clubs stand €7 million apart in their valuations, per Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t PianetaMilan). Milan are prepared to pay €18 million to bring Emerson to San Siro, while Tottenham are holding on to a €25 million valuation.
It is no secret that the player is willing to move to Italy with AC Milan and will prioritize a move to the Rossoneri.
