Andreas Pereira refuses to give away future plans amidst Tottenham interest
Tottenham Hotspur target Andreas Pereira admitted he is not focused on what comes next at this stage as he prepares for this summer’s Copa America with Brazil. The Brazilian midfielder was shortlisted by Spurs to sign in the summer.
Pereira has experience in playing different leagues across Europe. The 28-year-old has featured in Premier League, La Liga and Serie A and Brazilian League in his career. The attacking midfielder had a successful campaign with his current club, Fulham, where he scored three goals and nine assists in 44 games across all competitions.
The player has offers from multiple top clubs, but Fulham tactician Marco Silva needs the Brazilian midfielder in his squad for the upcoming campaigns. Pereira also has intentions to stay in the club. A better price can change his intentions.
The player have now been called to the Brazilian national team for the upcoming Copa America, According to Brazil, the competition is very crucial as they haven’t achieved anything for a while. The trophy drought for the Selacos began in the last Copa America final which Brazil lost to their greatest rival, Argentina. Also, they witnessed Argentina winning the World Cup in Qatar.
The dark phase was very difficult for both the players and the supporters. They are gradually coming to the winning track after Dorival Junior took the team in January. Under Dorival Brazil’s national team hopes to lift the Copa America trophy.
Dorival has a very important role in Pereira’s career. The gaffer gave many opportunities for the Brazilian when he played under him for Flamengo, also the tactician improved his playing style and skills.
“It helped me a lot at a time when I really needed it. I will always carry in my heart how much it helped and was important in my career. I’m happy to have him as a coach here in the team. I need help to repay what you did for me…”
Pereira shared his excitement to play under Dorival, He also confirmed his future journey will be only decided after the Copa America.
“It’s difficult to talk about the future now, I’m completely focused on the national team. After the title, God willing, I’ll think about my future at the club. I’ll sit down with my agent and decide my future,”
said Pereira at a Brazil press conference, via UOL. Ange Postecoglou is looking for a number of players to strengthen the squad. Till now, the Aussie coach is looking for young players in the transfer market, but he needs a well-experienced man in the middle so he can easily build passes and attacks from the midfielders.
