Chelsea sweat over Gallagher’s future
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the upcoming summer transfer window, as the North Londoners have established the England international as a prime target for this off-season. His current employers, Chelsea, fear that the 24-year-old is in the driving seat for his own future, with his contract set to expire next summer, per Football Insider.
The former Crystal Palace midfielder only has twelve months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge. The report by Football Insider claims Chelsea is “worried” that the midfielder can decide his future as he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs beyond England in January 2025.
Todd Boehly & Co. are anxious that the player who made 50 appearances for the Blues last season while contributing to sixteen goals could leave the club on a free transfer. The officials at Stoke d’Abernon are wary of the “big blow” if he continues at the bridge beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.
Gallagher on Spurs radar
Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for his signatures as of now, as the Lilywhites remain keen on acquiring his signatures this summer. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou feels that he could suit his style of play, and Daniel Levy and his chiefs would try to bring him to Hotspur Way.
Alongside White Hart Lane, Aston Villa and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have also been credited with interest in the England international this summer. He regularly wore the armband under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea in the recently concluded season and has emerged as a key figure in the heart of Chelsea’s midfield.
