Tottenham target Benjamin Sesko extends contract with RB Leipzig
RP Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko has shown interest in extending his contract with the German club despite rejecting all the offers from Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old is a topic in the transfer market after his incredible debut season with German club RP Leipzig. The striker has netted 18 goals and provided two assists in the 42 games that appeared for the club. He has also consecutively scored goals in the last seven games, which also helped the club to finish fourth in the Bundesliga. Sesko was said to have a release clause in his deal that would have made him available for £55m until the end of June.
Several clubs, including top Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Chelsea, were reported to had talks with the Slovenian international. Even if the summer transfer has yet to begin, all the clubs have started to initiate talks with their target players. According to early reports, Sesko had conversations with multiple clubs, and he was getting ready to leave Germany in the summer.
According to Sky Sports, Leipzig is all set to offer an improved contract for the player who was called to the Slovenia national team for Euro 2024. Sesko is also interested in continuing his journey with the German side, so he may sign the contract before the Euro Championship.
The new move from the Slovenian was a shock for the Premier League clubs. Especially for Ange Postecoglou who expected his service for Lillywhites in the upcoming season. Postecoglou’s targets for the summer were focused on young lads, so the 21-year-old player’s unavailability may affect his plans.
