AC Milan are ready to meet Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price for Emerson Royal
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and Italian giants AC Milan have been rumored to sign the Brazilian this summer.
The Italian giants pursuit of the Brazilian’s signature seems to be going smoothly, as reports out of Italy indicate that the Serie A club is willing to meet with Tottenham’s valuations to land the 26-year-old this summer.
Emerson Royal has been an understudy for Pedro Porro in the recently concluded season after losing his place to the Spaniard at the commencement of the season. He did aggregate 22 appearances in the Premier League last season; however, most of them came in a filler role in the left-back and center-back positions.
He appears to be surplus to Ange’s needs and is set to become the first player to bid adieu in a mass exodus expected at White Hart Lane. The Athletic reported that Ange thinks Royal is not suited to his style of play at N17, prompting the decision to off-load the right-back.
From surplus to San Siro
AC Milan has been leading the race to his signatures since the rumors of Royal’s potential departure came around the rumor mills. Gazzetta dello Sport, in a recent report, suggested that the North Londoners have reduced their asking price to approximately €20 million, or around £17.5 million for Emerson’s signature.
Relaying the report, Gazzetta (h/t Football Italia) acknowledges Milan’s willingness to pay the reduced fee to bring Royal to San Siro. The price agreed seems to be fair compensation for Royal’s worth, as Milan will get an athletic full-back to replace Calabria in the position.
