Real Madrid eye Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero to address defensive woes
Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been subject to links with Real Madrid following his impressive performances at White Hart Lane in the recently concluded season, per ESPN.
Real Madrid are coming on back of a UEFA Champions League winning season, however, they have a young squad at disposal as of now. With a young squad comes responsibilities in the veteran players to lead the team both on and off the pitch, nurturing and guiding the emerging talent to maintain the club’s legacy of excellence.
While they have a talent group of roster, they miss a Sergio Ramos-esque aggressive presence on the pitch, and that is something the Argentine can bring to Santiago Bernabeau. This is something Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to fill this summer, especially with current club captain Nacho set to depart in the off-season.
From North London to Galacticos?
Los Blancos have already registered interest in Lille upcoming starlet Leny Yoro, however, they will face an intense battle for his signatures as Spurs Premier League rivals Manchester United are also looking to snap his services this summer. And should they fail to land Yoro and Perez wants to look for a more experienced personnel, they will opt for Cristian Romero, per ESPN Argentina.
The Lilywhites signed the 26-year-old from Atalanta in 2021 in a £46.7m deal and he has become an integral part of Ange Postecoglou’s side following his 33 Premier League appearances in the recently concluded campaign where he proved his credentials as one of the best centre-backs in Europe on multiple occasions.
He sill has three years on his current contract at White Hart Lane and Levy will ask for a mammoth fee for his services.
