Tanguy Ndombele departs Tottenham Hotspur following mutual contract termination
Tottenham Hotspur FC midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is on his way out of White Hart Lane after struggling to find his feet in the English top tier.
The North Londoners signed the Frenchman when Mauricio Pochettino was still in charge of the club, as Daniel Levy backed the Argentine for a then club-record transfer of £63 million for Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon as the club came on the back of losing the UEFA Champions League finals in Madrid in 2019.
The deal, at the time, was regarded as a massive coup despite the substantial fee involved in the acquisition of his services. The Spurs faithful were filled with excitement over the potential he would unlock in the squad, especially following his wonder goal against Aston Villa on his debut.
However, fast forward a few years to this week, and the club has reached a mutual understanding with the player to terminate his contract. The Lilywhites would pay a £5 million fee to the player for contract termination.
Ndombele signs off
While many were relieved with the news, the 27-year-old took to Instagram with a heartfelt message stating ‘end of my adventure in the best club in London’, and with his message as he backed the team, now led by Australian tactician Ange Postecoglou, to be ‘extremely successful’ in the near future.
Taking to Instagram, Ndombele wrote:
“End of my adventure in the best club in London. I learned a lot during my time at Tottenham. Thank you for the unwavering support of your supporters. I wish you all the best for the future, and I know you will be extremely successful.”

Some deals work out and some don’t, but that message got me emotional and made me relive the joy when he signed at Tottenham. We wish you the best, Tanguy, wherever the future takes you.
