Tottenham are now among the clubs that are eyeing the youngster, amid Juventus and Napoli in the list
According to Italian publication Tutto Juve, Tottenham now joins the race for 17-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni, among other clubs including Juventus and Napoli.
This past season, the centre-back made 12 professional appearances in Serie B for Sampdoria on loan from Padova, scoring one goal. On July 1st, the loan agreement becomes permanent, subject to a €1.5 million transfer charge.
But his time at Sampdoria might not last long. According to the report, Torino is leading Tottenham, Napoli, and Juventus in the battle to sign him. Despite the fact that he will only cost €5 million, the report makes no mention of whether any teams have placed formal bids for him.
Tottenham wants to add a centre-back to their squad in order to strengthen their defence. Their current approach, which has seen them sign a number of young, bright talents for the future, includes an interest in him.
Luka Vuskovic, Ashley Phillips, Alejo Veliz, and Lucas Bergvall are a couple of the youngsters they just signed. Another young player that Spurs are keen on acquiring this summer is Giovanni Leoni.
It might be difficult for the young defender to establish himself as a key part of the Spurs’ squad immediately given that he does not have any experience playing in an elite league like the Premier League or even Serie A.
The fact that Tottenham is keen on showing interest in signing the centre-back among competition from several clubs shows that they trust his capabilities and believe he can show promise in the long run for them.

It is not like Tottenham are low on funds, as they are standing on a great place according to the PSR guidelines this summer so they might as well go for the low fee transfer for the 17-year-old.
