Mourinho is eyeing for a reunion with the midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou showed Dane international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg the green flag to leave Spurs in the summer. Hojberg is set to bid farewell to the N17 after his four-year journey with the Spurs.
All Spurs fans knew that some familiar faces would be leaving the N17 in the summer, and Ange Postecoglou confirmed that after his first successful year at Spurs, he is preparing to make some changes to the squad. Sessegnon, Richarlison, and Emerson were some of the names that were predicted by the fans who would leave in the summer.
After the season- ended, rumours regarding Hojbjerg were popping up in some media, The 28-year-old reached Spurs in 2020. The Dane has played 184 games for Spurs and contributed with 10 goals and 16 assists. The defensive midfielder was struggling to have a good performance under Ange Postecoglou. The midfielder was featured in most of the games as a substitute. But the fans had faith in the player and expected him to stay with the club. As per Football London, Postecoglou has given the green light for his departure from the club. This move was quite a surprise for the supporters.
But as a player who is struggling to get playing time in the club, he would choose another club where he’ll get more time in the field. Multiple clubs are interested in the player. Even though Fulham, Juventus and Napoli are interested in the player, Spanish club Atletico Madrid is far ahead to sign the 28-year-old. They have completed initial talks with the player, who is currently playing for Denmark in Euro 2024.
Turkish club Fenerbahce is likely to join the race with Atletico for Hojbjerg. Fenerbahce’s new head coach, Jose Mourinho, is interested in a reunion with the midfielder who signed for Spurs in Mourinho’s era. Hojbjerg also played most games for Spurs under Jose Mourinho. Atletico may move their procedures quicker by foreseeing the reunion chance.

Spurs are expecting £20m as a transfer fee for the Dane, the amount will also help the club to eye some good names in the transfer market, and they will replace Hojbjerg with some academy talents like Tyrese Hall.
