Porro’s success pushes Royal out, Spurs target Vanderson
Tottenham Hotspur FC have been looking to acquire Monaco right-back Vanderson in the summer transfer window as the North Londoners look to replace exit-bound Emerson Royal, per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Pedro Porro has cemented his position in Ange Postecoglou‘s eleven, and that has limited Emerson Royal’s involvement in his natural right-back position. This has opened doors for his departure this summer; however, Spurs will want to replace the Brazilian on the roster, and they are currently looking at another South American star to fill the void at right wing-back.
Beyond back-up?
Emerson Royal has been subject to a £20 million move to AC Milan, and Tottenham could be looking at Vanderson, who is expected to leave the Ligue 1 outfit this summer. However, the 22-year-old would not be overly pleased to join the Premier League giants only to play second fiddle to Pedro Porro. Although the club is in the process of uplifting the ceiling of the squad, Ange would love to have a player of Vanderson’s quality as a backup to show his commitment to squad depth and competition for places, potentially pushing Porro to even greater heights.
Fabrizio Romano, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, acknowledged Spurs interest in Monaco right-back Vanderson:
“Tottenham are showing interest in AS Monaco right-back Vanderson, one of the options only if Emerson Royal leaves the club. It was not an easy one as Monaco wanted more than a €40 million fee, but Spurs appreciated him. Emerson is expected to leave #THFC, with AC Milan being his priority.”
