Gil faces White Hart Lane exit after underwhelming spell
Tottenham Hotspur FC winger Bryan Gil has been linked with a White Hart Lane exit in the summer transfer window, as the silky winger is set to bid adieu to Spurs on a permanent basis after failing to secure a regular starting berth under manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Lilywhites will be looking to build on the progress that the club has made since Ange Postecoglou took over the reins at N17 last summer and to ascertain the progress, they are expected to undergo a massive summer overhaul to make space for ceiling raisers in the roster at the Australian’s disposal, and Gil is expected to be one of the first casualties of this summer’s rebuild.
No show in North London
John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has acknowledged that the Spaniard has offered “nothing” since signing for Spurs. The Lilywhites signed the 23-year-old in a £21.6 million transfer, with Erik Lamela moving to Sevilla as part of the deal, which was tagged as a bargain deal in 2021; however, things did not work as per expectations for both parties, with the Spaniard struggling to find his feet in England.
He has made 43 appearances for Spurs and only has 2 assists to show for it.
Wenham, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, insists that Gil will be one of two players to be sold by the Lilywhites. He said:
“Gil is on holiday in Spain, and nobody seems interested in signing him. There was talk of Feyenoord signing him previously, but that has seemingly stopped. He and Sergio Reguilon both need to be moved on.”
“Two players who cost the club a lot of money have offered pretty much nothing. For everybody involved, I think it is best if they are moved on.”
