Dragusin shines for Romania – 100% duels won & clean sheet for Spurs defender
Tottenham Hotspur FC defender Radu Dragusin made an impressive outing in Germany, representing Romania, in a marvellous 3-0 win over Ukraine in their premier Euro 2024 group stage fixture.
Romania performed brilliantly as they stunned Ukraine, and the Spurs player put in a stellar shift in the heart of defence, which has earned him recognition as a standout performer. His quality shone through the game as the former Genoa defender proved his credentials as one of the most exciting talents in his position.
The stats followed following the conclusion of the game, which showed how good his performance actually turned out to be. Radu, who joined Tottenham for £25m in the winter window, won an impressive 100% of his duels (both aerial and ground), making 10 clearances in the process, of which five were headed clearances. He also made a couple of crucial blocks and completed three recoveries.
Does Murphy’s point hold water?
His performance received wide praise, and former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy was one of the pundits complementing Radu’s performance. However, he did go on to criticize one thing about his outing against Ukraine, speaking to the BBC. Murphy said:
“I don’t think you should be celebrating doing your job that much, just a block. I mean, come on.”

Radu has shown his prowess when he has opportunities, and this will make Tottenham fans a bit relieved knowing that they have a high-quality bench in the centre-back role. Spurs faithful will have another opportunity to watch their winter signing when Romania takes on Belgium on June 23, and a win against them would bring Radu’s dream of going into the next stage closer.
