Atletico Madrid are looking to sign South American defender being targeted by Tottenham
As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign South American defender, Murillo who is also being targeted by Tottenham Hotspur. The 21-year-old is on the list of a lot of clubs thanks to his form with Nottingham Forest this season.
The Brazilian made 36 appearances for Nottingham this past season and spent all of his time playing as a CB. He was a key part of the team’s defence and one of their best players throughout.
Murillo was often a threat in the final third whenever he got a chance to push up and even recorded two assists. Unfortunately for the Spurs, Atletico Madrid are looking to secure the long-term future of their defensive line and Murillo is one of the best pieces to do so.
The 21-year-old has four years remaining on his contract with Nottingham Forest, so any deal for him will likely require the bidders to dig deep into their pockets. However, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid both have the means available to them, so they would be happy to bid for Murillo.
The Lilywhites have already shown a willingness to bet on young talents under Ange Postecoglou. He’s brought in Radu Dragusin this January and has given time to a lot of young talents. Players like Pedro Porro and Pape Matar Sarr have responded to Ange’s leadership amazingly.
If the team manages to add Murillo to their lineup then it would be safe to say that Tottenham’s future would be secure for a good time. Murillo, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Radu Dragusin are quality options to have at CB.
