Tottenham will have to battle clubs from Saudi for 21G/A Serie A ace

As reported by Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur-linked Serie A ace, Albert Gudmundsson is also garnering interest from several clubs in the Saudi Pro League. Gudmundsson was on fire for Genoa last season and finished his campaign with 21 G/A across all competitions.

The 27-year-old made a total of 37 appearances for the Serie A side last season and most of his time was spent playing upfront as the focal point in offense. Gudmundsson has proved to be quite a threat in the final third of the pitch, something Tottenham have lacked in 2023/24.

Spurs are in need of a reliable pair of legs in the final third of the pitch. Given the way the 27-year-old has been performing lately, he could come in and immediately make a difference to Ange Postecoglou’s frontline.

However, Tottenham will face no shortage of trouble from Saudi clubs in their pursuit of Gudmundsson. Genoa CEO, Andres Blazquez has stated that the 27-year-old is one of the best strikers in the Serie A and is clearly not lacking for suitors.

It’s no surprise that clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia are showing interest in signing him this summer. Ultimately, the decision will rest with the player himself. If both Tottenham and a Saudi team have their bids accepted, the final choice will come down to where Gudmundsson wants to play.

Will Ange be getting another reliable forward this summer?

The 27-year-old Iceland international still has several good years of football ahead of him. Therefore, it might not make much sense for him to choose a Saudi club over Tottenham Hotspur, one of the most prominent clubs in England. Surely, he will favour ambition over money at this stage of his career.

Hopefully, Tottenham can beat the Saudi clubs to the punch and move fast to secure Gudmundsson. The last thing we need to do is be late to the party.
