Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a White Hart Lane exit this summer and has already informed friends of his intention to leave the North Londoners for a club where he could feature more regularly, according to Football Insider.

The 79-cap Danish star has been showcasing his exceptional skills with Denmark in Euro 2024, hoping his performances will attract potential suitors. To facilitate his exit, he has also hired a new agent to help secure a lucrative deal with a club where he can find regular first-team minutes.

Watching him shine in the midfield for Denmark in a 1-1 draw against England on Thursday demonstrated that he still possesses the capacity to operate at the highest level. Hojbjerg’s ability to control the tempo of the game and his defensive prowess were on full display, highlighting why he remains a valuable asset for any top-tier team.

Hojbjerg appears to be interested in a move to Italy and Serie A, with multiple clubs from the country vying for his services. The likes of AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli have expressed interest in landing the 28-year-old this summer.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the former Bayern Munich midfielder has told friends that he is keen to leave Tottenham this summer. He has also intimated to the club his intention to depart before the transfer cut-off.

While Ange Postecoglou named Hojbjerg in each of his Premier League matchday squads last season, the 28-year-old only started eight games and appeared from the bench a mammoth 28 times. Hojbjerg has been an integral part of the club since moving from Southampton in August 2020, establishing himself as a mainstay under Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho. However, with the club embarking on a new project under the Australian manager, it seems time to move on and cut the old ties.

Hojbjerg’s interest in Serie A reflects his desire for a fresh challenge and regular first-team football. The competition for his signature from top Italian clubs underscores his value and the quality he brings to the midfield. As Tottenham look to reshape their squad, Hojbjerg’s departure could provide an opportunity for both the player and the club to move forward in new directions.
