Manchester United are in touch with Joshua Zirkzee amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that Manchester United are close to sealing a deal with Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee. This development means Tottenham Hotspur may lose their potential forward target to the Red Devils after the latter’s involvement in the race for the player.
Spurs have shown interest in the Bologna striker following his impressive performances in Serie A over the last two years. The former Bayern Munich player has an enviable track record, having won three Bundesliga titles and a Champions League with the German giants. Zirkzee, who progressed through the Bayern academy, also had stints with Italian club Parma and Belgian club Anderlecht before joining Bologna in 2022.
Zirkzee was nurtured under Thiago Motta at Bologna, who has recently signed on as Juventus manager. Following his gaffer’s departure, the Dutch striker is also set to leave the club. Zirkzee has played 37 games for Bologna, netting 12 goals and providing seven assists. His impressive performances earned him a call-up by Ronald Koeman to the Netherlands national team for Euro 2024.
In addition to Spurs, multiple clubs, including AC Milan, have shown interest in the 23-year-old striker. However, Manchester United has advanced in the race. According to Florian Plettenberg’s latest post on ‘X’, the Red Devils have started talks with Zirkzee’s agent. United are preparing for the upcoming campaign with full confidence following their FA Cup win last month.

The 21-year-old Dutchman’s ability to find the back of the net and his experience across multiple top leagues makes him a highly sought-after talent.
