Tottenham Hotspur eye 19-year-old Italian defender Michael Kayode
According to a report from TMW, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Michael Kayode, joining a lengthy list of clubs looking to sign the Fiorentina prospect ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old Italian full-defender joined the Viola from Gozzano in July 2021 and spent two years in the Primavera team, where he impressed enough to gain a place on Vincenzo Italiano’s roster for the 2023-24 season.
Kayode had an extensive debut year with Fiorentina’s senior team, totalling 2,906 minutes over 37 games. During that period, he scored once and provided four assists, winning over the supporters in Florence.
Primarily a natural right-back, Kayode can also play as a right-winger. This versatility makes him a suitable successor for Emerson Royal if the Brazilian decides to leave. Recently, Kayode has been linked with a transfer to AC Milan, reflecting his growing reputation and potential value in the transfer market.
Tottenham will need to find an acceptable replacement for Emerson this summer, and Kayode appears to be the ideal candidate. The 19-year-old has the potential to become a significant player for the North London club.
In the meantime, he will be able to compete with Pedro Porro for the starting position, adding depth and fostering healthy competition within the squad. Kayode’s versatility and potential make him a promising addition to Tottenham’s lineup.

The prospect of playing in the Premier League will undoubtedly be appealing to the young defender Kayode, though it remains unclear whether Fiorentina is willing to transfer him. With a contract running until 2028, Fiorentina likely aims to keep him for the long term. Even if they decide to sell him this summer, he is likely to command a premium fee.
Tottenham, with ambitions to qualify for the Champions League next season and compete for titles, will need to bring in necessary reinforcements to strengthen their squad. Acquiring a promising talent like Kayode could be a significant step in achieving those goals.
