Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand impressing Tottenham scouts at Euro 2024
According to Record (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham and Manchester United have dispatched scouts to observe Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand at Euro 2024.
Their delegates would have been pleased with what they saw when Hjulmand scored a magnificent long-range goal to equalize against Denmark in the 34th minute on Thursday in Frankfurt. This has seen both Manchester United and Tottenham keep tabs on him.
The two clubs have been monitoring Morten Hjulmand for some time and have identified him as a potential target this summer, so his performance against Denmark would not have gone unnoticed.
Despite being linked with a transfer to the Premier League, the 24-year-old appears content at Sporting Lisbon and wishes to stay with the Portuguese club for at least another season.
Unfortunately for both Tottenham and Manchester United, Hjulmand has made it clear that he intends to stay in Portugal for at least another year. Additionally, Sporting has assured manager Ruben Amorim that the midfielder will not be sold, further solidifying his stay with the club.
With Morten Hjulmand pleased with his current circumstances, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur may struggle to lure him away from the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Moreover, they face competition from European giants, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. This interest from top-tier clubs further complicates the efforts of Manchester United and Tottenham to secure his signature.

t is up to Tottenham and Manchester United to persuade both Hjulmand and Sporting Lisbon to change their minds. Whether their scouts were impressed enough by his performance against Denmark to now submit a formal offer to Sporting remains to be seen. Hopefully, Spurs can make a compelling case to convince the Portuguese club and Hjulmand that a move to North London is in their best interest.
