Surprise exit! Tottenham Hotspur part ways with highly-rated starlet Han Willhoft-King
Tottenham Hotspur’s highly-rated starlet Han Willhoft-King walked away from White Hart Lane this summer, which has caught John Wenham by surprise.
John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has acknowledged how the 18-year-old has been one of the brightest upcoming stars at Hotspur Way following his North London exit.
Han Willhoft-King has been among the names that the club confirmed via an official statement for the players who will be bidding adieu to Spurs upon the expiration of their contracts at the conclusion of this month. He has been one of the most highly regarded players in the country, with The Guardian naming him on their Top 20 Players to Watch list a couple of years ago.
Wenham questions Willhoft-King exit
Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, expressed his surprise over Han’s exit, saying:
“It was only a couple of years ago that the Guardian featured Willhoft-King as one to watch from Spurs’ academy. They have a pretty good hit rate with that. Players such as Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore, and Troy Parrott have all been featured on it in the past. Therefore, to see him leave the club for free just a few years later is slightly strange.”
Given our eye for talent, it is questionable as to why such a talent like Willhoft-King was allowed to move on. Hopefully, it is one we won’t come to regret in the future. After all, not every prospect strikes gold at the top level.

The fact that the Spurs offered him a new contract shows that the club recognize the quality the youngster possesses. However, Willhoft-King did not see a pathway to success at N17 owing to a lack of opportunities for academy prospects. This is something that Ange should address to foster growth and development within the club.
