Tottenham are keeping a keen eye on Marc Guehi, summer move possible
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to fortify their interests in signing a new centre-back in the current transfer window, and the North Londoners are considering a summer move for Crystal Palace CB Marc Guehi.
A reputed Lilywhites journalist at Football.London, Alasdair Gold, has suggested that while the club has held a strong interest in the 23-year-old, acquiring him might be a strenuous task. The England Euro 2024 star has garnered massive interest from several European giants, potentially driving up his transfer fee.
The Cobham graduate has a contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026, and the Eagles are hesitant to let their star man go this summer. He has been an integral part of the defence at Palace in the recently concluded season and has replicated similar performances for the Three Lions.
“Spurs love him, But…” – Gold on Guehi interest and transfer priorities
Gold acknowledged the quality Guehi possesses and the high valuation that Palace hold his services for this summer while insisting that Spurs are not looking to sign a high-value centre-back in the off-season unless there is a significant departure at Hotspur Way, which currently seems unlikely.
While answering a questionnaire with Football.London, Gold said:
“Spurs love him, but he’ll be big money this summer, chased by every top club going, and Tottenham aren’t really prioritising a centre-back as an immediate big money signing this summer unless someone major leaves, which is not expected at this point. Also, I’d be stunned if Palace let him go on top of Olise and Eze with their release clauses.”
The former Swansea City defender has started in both of England’s games at the European Championship in the off-season after making 25 Premier League appearances for Palace last season, despite suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for nearly three months.
