Lo Celso linked with Real Betis as Tottenham Exit looms
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a White Hart Lane exit this summer, and he may find a home in a familiar town as Spanish giants Real Betis express interest in acquiring his services.
The Argentine maestro has struggled for playing time under Ange Postecoglou and the majority of his minutes on the pitch came when first-choice attacking midfielder James Maddison served on the sidelines. His growing frustrations on the Lilywhites bench have eventually led to the Copa America’s winner considering an exit this off-season.
Betis bound?
Real Betis have been in the transfer market for an attack-minded midfielder this summer, as French ace Nabil Fekir is speculated to bid adieu to Estadio Benito Villamarín. The former Lyon midfielder was tipped to sign for a Saudi Pro side in the winter transfer window, and Middle East interest in his services is expected to compound in the ongoing window.
If that is to be the case this summer, Manuel Pellegrini & Co. will be moving on from Fekir’s services and opting to bring in the Argentine maestro instead. And Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo hinted that his employers would be interested in herding the 28-year-old to Spain this summer. He suggests that Lo Celso remains a ‘remote option’ for the Verdiblancos.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Betis chief said:
“Today, as you know, he is a Tottenham player. He has a valid contract, and we owe him respect. He is a high-level player with a past in green and white.
Fajardo continued: “He left very good memories, but today he is still a remote option for Betis.”
