Tottenham Hotspur target Vanderson close to his dream of playing in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur are all set to find a replacement for Brazilian international Emerson Royal, who might potentially leave the club in the summer as Spurs are eyeing countryman Vanderson from Monaco as a replacement, per Trivela.
After accepting bids for Spurs defender Emerson from Italian club AC Milan, the Lillywhites are getting ready for the inclusion of another Brazilian to bolster the defensive line. Vanderson had an opportunity to join the English top-flight club before joining Monaco in 2022. Brentford were interested in the Selecao defender after his dazzling stint with the boyhood club Gremio.
The French club hijacked the deal from the Bees at the last minute and took the full-back to France. After the two-year journey in Ligue1, the Brazilian is close to his dream of joining a Premier League side. Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham are the English clubs linked with him, and Spanish giants Barcelona are in the race to try their luck.
Vanderson missed out on the major part of the last campaign, due to injuries which meant the Brazilian could only play 23 games for the club. He was the team’s standout performer despite making fewer appearances, helping them finish second in the French League. Finally, the 23-year-old Brazilian is preparing to start a new chapter.
Tottenham have some holes to fill in their defensive department subject to the possible departures of some players from the North London club. However, Spurs will need to pay a substantial amount for his signing, as Vanderson’s current club are asking for €30m for his service. On the other hand, Milan has only offered €25m for Emerson Royal.
