£40m wonderkid? Archie Gray impresses in first week at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of Archie Gray earlier this summer, and with the English prodigy acclaimed to reach big heights, many suggest the Leeds United academy starlet is a coup for the North Londoners at a £40 million price tag.

He enjoyed an exceptional breakthrough season at Elland Road last year as his consistent performances and versatile profile pushed interest from multiple Premier League clubs going into the summer transfer window. But the Lilywhites beat the competition to sign the England youth international.

Seamless transition

The officials at White Hart Lane rate the teenager in high regard, and the club believes that he could end up becoming an integral part of Ange Postecoglou‘s squad at N17. After having seemed to make a deep impression in the Championship last season in the right-back role and in his preferred role in midfield, many are expecting the English sensation to hit the ground running for Spurs.

And Archie Gray seems to be living up to those expectations, as he has been impressing the Australian’s staff behind the scenes in the first week of the pre-season, per Football. London. He is said to be putting in some impressive grind in the training sessions and seems to have adapted to life in North London seamlessly.

He has already donned the Tottenham badge, as Spurs were involved in a behind-the-scenes friendly against Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon. Spurs apparently gave an opportunity to all the players available on the current roster, and Archie Gray played a right-back role as the club eventually won the game with a 7-2 score line by the time the final whistle blew.

Archie goes into the season with high expectations; however, Spurs supporters need to remember that he is only eighteen, and therefore, patience with his development is crucial.
