Genoa’s loss, Ipswich’s gain? Spence attracts Premier League interest
Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer.
John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, claims that Ipswich Town and several other Premier League clubs have expressed interest in signing the 23-year-old youngster in the ongoing transfer window.
Stalled in Italy, wanted in England
Djed Spence has been linked with a move to Genoa, and the talks were said to have advanced before the deal eventually fell through as the pair of clubs could not come to an agreement on the fee for the player, and constant haggling meant that the deal was called off.
This raises an opportunity for Ipswich Town and other Premier League clubs to land an outstanding talent like Spence, should they move quickly to secure his services. Spence was once described as ‘unstoppable’ for his display in a Ligue 1 game. And Wenham believes that multiple clubs might be interested in making a bid for him.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“Spence has returned for pre-season training, and it looks like a move to Genoa has stalled. I still think he will leave, and I suspect that some Premier League interest might emerge. The likes of Ipswich Town could perhaps look to move for him if they miss out on other targets. And there could be several other sides that come forward too.”

It is difficult to see Djed Spence starting in Ange Postecoglou‘s side, as he would not only be a backup to Pedro Porro but also be secondary to Spurs summer signing Archie Gray. And if a club like Ipswich steps forward, it would be an ideal situation for the 23-year-old to make his mark in the Premier League.
