Heart set on San Siro as Emerson Royal in talks with Milan boss Fonseca
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, and as per the latest report by Ben Jacobs, AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has already held talks with the South American defender about his proposed move to Serie A.
The North Londoners and AC Milan have been locked in negotiations for the former Barcelona full-back for a couple of weeks, with the 25-year-old publicly admitting his wish to move to the Italian side last week, per Globo.
Some reports suggest that both clubs are not far apart in their valuation of Emerson, while others insist that Milan will need to grind the transfer out. While the clubs continue their constant dialogue, the Saudi Pro side is offering Emerson an opportunity to quadruple his wages if he moves to the Middle East.
Can Milan navigate negotiations to secure Emerson Royal?
Ben Jacobs reveals that new Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca has held talks with Emerson in the last week, and he insists that the conversations have been positive. Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, the journalist said:
“The player’s priority is Milan. It’s as simple as that. Emerson Royal would like to move to Milan; there’s a five-year deal on the table, and personal terms are agreed. In addition to that, it’s not just Zlatan Ibrahimovic working on this. Paulo Fonseca has come in. I’m told that in the last week or so, Fonseca has been in contact with Emerson Royal, and it’s all very positive. There’s no problem on the Milan end except for the negotiations with Spurs.”
Milan have been heavily interested in signing Emerson this summer, and they are looking to sign him at a discount amid the club’s ongoing financial constraints. They are expecting the Spurs to soften their stance sooner or later.
