Tottenham expected to make first offer for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Tutto Juve, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Serie A giants Juventus to sign out-of-favour, 26-year-old star Federico Chiesa.
Juventus are moving in a new direction with their project under newly appointed manager Thiago Motta. The ex-Bologna manager has quickly decided to put Chiesa on the transfer market with foreign clubs looking at signing him.
Despite interest from Roma, the player himself seemingly favours a move abroad which gives him the chance to make a fresh start. Injuries have ruined Chiesa’s career and prevented him from becoming the player he seemed destined to become.
Once tipped to become ‘the best in Europe’ in his position by Cesare Prandelli, the Euro 2020 star has reached nowhere close to those levels yet. An ACL injury he suffered has really put the brakes on a promising career.
The Chiesa of 2020 was almost unplayable at his best, often taking on his man and beating them at will. He had a tournament akin to the one Nico Williams or Lamine Yamal have had this time around in the Euros. Back then, everything seemed promising for the Italian.
Ever since his injury though, the Juventus man seems to lack the confidence to take on a defender 1 v 1. His goalscoring and chance-creating tendencies have thereby reduced too, taking his influence away from the game.
With a contract that expires next summer, Juventus are willing to let Chiesa go for cents on the dollar. His injury history makes him a huge gamble for any club to pursue but it might be a gamble worth taking.
If Chiesa can rediscover the form he showed prior to his injury, any club would be signing a world-class player for a bargain fee. Tottenham are keeping a close eye on his situation and could look to bring him in.

Spurs are never shy from making a transfer from the Serie A and Chiesa might be the latest in a long list. The upsides of this transfer are enormous and worth taking the risk and let’s hope the club can get a deal over the line.
