Hatipoglu Hints at Hojbjerg Tug-of-War
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and Galatasaray’s vice chairman has admitted the Turks’ interest in securing the Danish maestro.
The 28-year-old’s future at Hotspur has been blurry for some time now. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou has demoted the former Southampton midfielder to a bits-and-parts role at N17. With him no longer being an integral part of the roster at Spurs and his contract running down next year, the Danish star is expected to be on the move in the ongoing window.
Zidane comparisons & Turkish dreams
His availability has been met by potential suitors from around Europe. Turkish giant Galatasaray has been one of the clubs that have been pursuing his signature this summer. They want to continue to maintain their halo in Turkish football, and the officials at Rams Park believe that he would be an ideal addition to bolster their squad and elevate their competitiveness in both domestic and European competitions.
Galatasaray vice chairman Ibrahim Hatipoğlu recently spoke about his employer’s interest in the Tottenham midfielder. He has gone public about their interest in Hojbjerg’s signatures and admitted that there is ample competition for his signatures this summer.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CNN Turk, Hatipoğlu said:
“Højbjerg is a very good player. He has many suitors. He says he wants to decide after seeing all the options. It may take more time than others.”
Jose Mourinho, who took charge of Galatasaray’s rival club Fenerbahce, has compared the 28-year-old to French legend Zidane.
