Prodigal son returns? Spurs eye homecoming for Marcus Edwards
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring back Hotspur Way academy graduate Marcus Edwards to White Hart Lane this summer window.
The North Londoners have been looking to compound on the depth in the offensive line as they look to provide Ange Postecoglou with admirable armoury in his arsenal going into next season. And Spurs have been linked with a move for Marcus Edwards, a dynamic winger who has been taking significant strides in Portugal with Sporting CP.
Edwards has been a product of the Lilywhites prestigious academy and has showcased his potential with flair and creativity in recent seasons. As Daniel Levy looks to build a side that can compete on all fronts, signing the 25-year-old could enhance options on the Spurs roster as he could bring a different kind of attacking prowess and depth to the squad.
Homegrown hero or Palace prospect?
Marcus Edwards is open to returning to the English top tier despite having two years left on his current deal at Sporting Lisbon. The Lilywhites have been looking to move for the 25-year-old, and they face a race to his signature as Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are also looking to sign the Sporting CP star, per Football Insider.
Palace are looking to replace Michael Olise, who moved to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
While Tottenham are yet to make a move for Edwards, they are monitoring the situation as of now.
Edwards will get a regular first-team opportunity at Selhurst Park, which may see him make his way to the Eagles over a return to Tottenham.
