Captain Son Heung-min returns firing in Spurs Pre-Season friendly
Tottenham Hotspur are back in business as Son Heung-min & Co. return to pre-season training ahead of the 2024–25 season.
Many of the Spurs players have already started their pre-season training camp, and over the weekend, the club played a behind-the-scenes friendly against Cambridge United. The game was an absolute goal fest, as the North Londoners won by a 7-2 margin.
And on the back of such exhibition friendlies, there are always interesting stories. Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold revealed in his Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that Spurs skipper Son Heung-min looked at the top of his game in the game.
Gold said:
“That was one thing I was told; a couple of people said that Sonny looked amazing. Apparently, he looked so sharp, like he hadn’t even been away. So that’s good news; that’s very good news.”
This would be music to the ears of the Spurs faithful. Son has been complying with absolute high standards throughout his time in North London, but as we saw in the 2022–23 campaign, he may have had struggles along the way.
There were reports that Son was carrying an injury throughout the last season, and looking at his performance in the weekend friendly, it looks like he is over those concerns and is coming into the season on a healthy note.
Despite his struggles with injury last season, Son scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in the English top tier.
