Spurs reject AC Milan’s cut-price bid for Emerson Royal
Tottenham Hotspur have just knocked back a bid from AC Milan for South American defender Emerson Royal, per BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.
The North Londoners are looking to compound on the progress they made at White Hart Lane since Ange Postecoglou took over the reins of the club last summer, and they are looking to add ceiling-raising players to the squad. However, Spurs will have to let go of a few fringe players to make space for new arrivals in the dressing room.
Tottenham hold firm on Emerson Royal valuation
In a bid for a summer overhaul, Emerson Royal is among the first players to be linked with a move away from the N17. The club has constantly negotiated with Serie A side AC Milan for a possible summer transfer. The Lilywhites have just rejected a bid from the Italian giants for the 25-year-old defender.
According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the North Londoners have rejected an £8.4 (€10) million bid from the San Siro side for the Brazilian ace. The Milan Reds have been chasing a move for Emerson Royal all summer long; however, they are reluctant to pay up the £16.8 million asking price for his signatures.
Milan believes they can land Emerson for a cut-fee price if they play hardball long enough, especially because the former Barcelona full-back has already agreed on personal terms with Paulo Fonseca’s side.
There has been no contact between the clubs since the first bid.
Daniel Levy will be looking to recoup as much of the fees from his sale as he looks to reinvest in new signings that can elevate the team’s performance going into the next season.
