Vincent Kompany pushing for Bayern to sign Spurs-linked Rennes midfielder Désiré Doué
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has had a phone call with Rennes midfielder Désiré Doué.
Kompany, having moved to Munich from Burnley this summer in remarkable fashion, is keen to prove himself capable of leading teams to success at the top level as quickly as possible and is expected to help the Bavarian club with the signing of the young talent.
Doué, a multi-faceted attacking midfielder capable of playing both centrally and out wide on either flank, has been a mainstay in the Stade Rennais starting XI over the past two seasons despite having turned 19 just last month.
The France U19 international has also been linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks and will be seen representing France at the Paris Olympics later this month.
Doué currently has a €10k-per-week contract at Rennes that is set to run until June 2026.
This could be a tough one
Spurs technical director Johan Lange has talked a big game about making the club an attractive prospect for young talents, and all the credit to him for delivering on his promise by virtue of the players the club have signed and continued to go after.
When Bayern come calling, however, it’s hard to say no. Kompany’s move to Munich may baffle quite a few, but he was very promising in working with and identifying young talents at Burnley, which is a skill the Bavarian side would want to leverage as they attempt to reclaim the Bundesliga crown.
