Bayern Munich & PSG lead the race as Spurs cool interest
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for highly-rated French youngster Desire Doue, and according to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the North Londoners have ‘gone cold’ off late. The Rennes winger is set to decide his future in the coming days amidst interest from Bayern Munich and PSG.
The Liywhites have been quite active in the transfer market this summer. Spurs have made a radiant start to their dealings after having already secured the arrivals of Archie Gray from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall joining from Djurgarden, alongside the return of Timo Werner. There are expectations that more is yet to come from Tottenham, although there is some bad news for Spurs fans in regards to one player.
If the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano are to be cited, the North Londoners have given up on their pursuit of one of the most talented players available in the transfer window this summer.
Doue disappointment
With a contract that expires in 2026 (Transfermarkt), Rennes and Doue don’t have much time to ponder about the future, and if the French club refuses to sell the teenager this summer, his valuation will only keep dropping. Looking at the opportunity in hand, multiple European elites, including Bayern Munich and PSG, are ready to take advantage of the situation.
Spurs also have established links with Doue, as there were reports suggesting Ange Postecoglou was a prime target this summer. However, the Italian journalist suggests that things have ‘gone cold’ between Tottenham and a potential Doue transfer. There are suggestions that he will move to either Bayern Munich or PSG this summer.
Romano, speaking on The Debrief podcast on The Daily Briefing, said of the sensational ace’s future:
“From what I heard, Tottenham have gone cold at the moment, so the situation is more focused on Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain. So, these are the two clubs really pushing to sign Desire Doue. Let’s see if some other club will try to join the race. So let’s keep it open until it’s done because the player has not yet decided which club he wants to join.”

This will come as a big blow for Daniel Levy & Co. as they continue their pursuit of level-raising talents from across Europe. However, this would also mean that the club continues to have the financial possibility of making one, perhaps two, marquee signings this summer.
